How to Set Up Xtream Codes in an IPTV Player
Guide updated August 9, 2026 — applies to Maya IPTV and any compatible player.
“Xtream Codes”, “get.php URL”, “Xtream login”… these terms show up in every IPTV provider's email and can be confusing at first. The reality is simple: it comes down to three pieces of information you copy into your player. This guide explains what the Xtream Codes API is, how the URLs are formatted, and how to sign in within two minutes.
What exactly is Xtream Codes?
Xtream Codes is the name of an API (an exchange protocol) that has become the de facto standard between IPTV providers' servers and playback apps. In practice, your provider gives you three pieces of information:
- the server URL, including the port — for example
http://example.tld:8080; - a username;
- a password.
With those three items, any compatible player automatically fetches your live channels, the program guide (EPG), movies and series — all organized by category. It's much richer than a plain M3U playlist, which only carries the raw list of streams.
The get.php URL format
Some providers send a “ready-made” URL like this one:
http://example.tld:8080/get.php?username=MYUSER&password=MYPASS&type=m3u_plus
That URL actually contains your three credentials. To break it down:
- Server URL: everything before
/get.php→http://example.tld:8080; - Username: the value after
username=; - Password: the value after
password=.
In an Xtream Codes-compatible player, never add /get.php: enter only the server base — the app builds the calls itself (player_api.php for the catalog, get.php for the streams).
Entering your credentials in Maya IPTV (or any other player)
- Open the app and choose Xtream Codes as the connection type;
- Paste the server URL exactly as supplied: same protocol (http or https), same port, nothing after the port;
- Enter the username then the password, respecting upper and lower case;
- Confirm: the first catalog load can take one to two minutes depending on the size of your subscription.
The procedure is identical in every player on the market — that's the whole point of the standard: your credentials aren't locked into one app (see our guide on switching players without losing anything).
Common errors (and how to fix them)
- Wrong port: the URL must almost always include a port (
:8080,:80,:2095…). Without it, the connection fails. Copy the provider's URL character for character; - http vs https: don't “fix” the protocol yourself. If your provider supplied
http, forcinghttpswill often fail (and vice versa); - Invisible spaces: a single space copied before or after the username/password is enough to break authentication. On a TV, double-check what the on-screen keyboard typed;
- Expired account or too many screens: if everything is correct but the login is refused, your subscription may have expired, or it may already be in use on the maximum number of simultaneous devices. Contact your provider;
- M3U URL instead of the base: pasting the full
get.phpURL into the “server” field is mistake number one. Keep only the base (see the previous section).
Available on Android, Android TV, Fire TV, Windows and iPhone / iPad.
FAQ
Where do I find my URL, username and password?
They're supplied by your IPTV provider when you subscribe, usually by email — sometimes bundled into a get.php URL you just need to break down (see above).
Should I add /get.php at the end of the URL?
No. You only enter the base http://server:port; the player builds the calls itself.
My credentials are correct but the login fails — why?
Check, in order: the port in the URL, the protocol (http/https exactly as supplied), stray spaces, then whether your subscription is still active with your provider.
Xtream Codes or M3U — which should I choose?
Both access the same subscription, but Xtream Codes adds categories, posters, the EPG and a structured VOD catalog. Prefer it whenever your player offers it.
