How to Install an IPTV App on Fire TV Stick
Guide updated August 9, 2026 — tested on Fire TV Stick 4K and Fire TV Stick Lite.
Amazon's Fire TV Stick is one of the most popular devices for watching IPTV on a TV: it's cheap, quick to set up, and runs Fire OS, a modified version of Android. The one quirk: the Amazon Appstore doesn't list every app, so you sometimes have to sideload the APK yourself. Here's the full method, step by step, using Maya IPTV as the example — it works the same way for any player.
What you need before you start
- A Fire TV Stick (any model) connected to the Internet;
- Your IPTV subscription credentials: server URL, username and password (Xtream Codes format) or the address of a Stalker Portal;
- 10 minutes, tops.
Step 1 — Allow apps from unknown sources
By default, Fire OS blocks apps that don't come from the Appstore. To lift that restriction:
- Open Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options;
- Select Install unknown apps;
- Turn the permission on for Downloader (after step 2 if the app doesn't show up yet).
If “Developer Options” is hidden on your Stick: go to Settings → My Fire TV → About, then click the device name 7 times to make it appear.
Step 2 — Install Downloader
Downloader is a free app from the Amazon Appstore (the orange icon) that lets you download a file from a web address straight onto the Stick. Search for “Downloader” from the home screen (magnifying glass or Alexa voice search), then install it like any other app.
Step 3 — Download the Maya IPTV APK
- Open Downloader;
- In the address field, type mayaiptv.com and confirm;
- On the site, pick the Android TV / Fire TV download: the APK downloads;
- When the download finishes, press Install, then Open. You can then delete the APK file to free up space.
Step 4 — Sign in with your subscription
On first launch, the app asks for your credentials. Pick the connection type that matches what your provider gave you:
- Xtream Codes: server URL (including the port, e.g.
http://example.tld:8080), username, password; - Stalker Portal: the portal address supplied by your provider.
Once you're signed in, your subscription's live channels, TV guide (EPG), movies and series load automatically. Need help with this exact part? Check our guide Set Up Xtream Codes.
Remote control tips (D-pad)
- Up/down arrows during playback: zap channels directly, without going back to the list;
- Center button: shows or hides the player controls;
- Back button: closes the open menu or overlay first, then exits the player — handy so you never cut off playback by mistake;
- Long-press on a channel: quickly add it to your favorites.

FAQ
Is it legal to install an IPTV app on a Fire TV Stick?
Yes. An IPTV player is playback software, just like any regular video player. Legality depends solely on the streams you load into it — that is, on the subscription supplied by your provider.
Why won't my APK install?
In the vast majority of cases, the “Install unknown apps” permission isn't enabled for Downloader (step 1). Also check the remaining storage space on the Stick.
Is Maya IPTV really free on Fire TV?
Yes: free, ad-free, and it sells no subscriptions. You sign in with your own Xtream Codes or Stalker Portal credentials.
Does the Fire TV remote work well?
Yes, the interface is designed for D-pad navigation: everything is reachable with the arrows and the center button, including the player menus, the TV guide and search.
